PHOENIX — With Halloween on Saturday, Phoenix police say they will add patrols and keep a visible presence in neighborhoods to discourage impaired driving and speeding, ABC15 reported.
The department said the extra attention is aimed at protecting families and children who will be walking through neighborhoods while trick-or-treating, as crashes and DUI arrests continue to be reported across the Valley.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 201 people were killed in alcohol-related crashes on Halloween night from 2019 through 2024.
Safety advocates recommend that drivers slow down in residential areas, plan a sober ride, and that trick-or-treaters carry a flashlight or wear reflective gear.
