BUCKEYE — A man caught with nearly 8,000 heroin pills hidden in a cereal box during a 2024 traffic search in Buckeye has been sentenced to 9.25 years in prison, the Arizona Attorney General’s Office announced Monday, KTAR News reported.
Edgardo Dominguez-Cortez was a passenger in a car with Jesus Beltran Bajorquez and Marcos Ochoa on Dec. 21, 2024, when authorities searched the vehicle and found the pills, prosecutors said. He was on probation at the time for money laundering tied to drug trafficking.
Investigators found a video of the pill-filled box on his phone along with messages discussing the deal.
All three men were charged with conspiracy, transportation of a narcotic drug for sale and illegally conducting an enterprise. A jury convicted Dominguez-Cortez on all counts Aug. 13.
