MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Brewers erased a four-run first-inning deficit and beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-4 on Saturday night to go up 2-0 in the World Series, the Associated Press reported.
Sal Frelick tied the game with his first home run in three months, and rookie shortstop Cooper Pratt drove in the go-ahead run with a seventh-inning single.
Tampa Bay jumped on rookie starter Logan Henderson for four runs in the first, but Milwaukee answered with two in the bottom half against Rays ace Drew Rasmussen. The Rays, who won the American League pennant by capitalizing on opponents’ mistakes, committed an error, made two other misplays and had a runner thrown out at the plate.
It was Milwaukee’s seventh comeback win this postseason and its second after trailing 4-0; it also rallied from that deficit to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 4 of the NL Championship Series. The Brewers won Game 1 on Friday, 3-2.
