ATLANTA — A 31-year-old Douglasville, Georgia, man was charged Friday with throwing a Molotov cocktail at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement building in downtown Atlanta, the Associated Press reported.

Inique Hinton faces charges of attempted arson of a federal building and depredation of government property, according to U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg.

Prosecutors said security cameras recorded Hinton lighting an object and throwing it toward the building Tuesday night. It struck a fence, and flames spread. Investigators recovered burned cloth, lighter fluid, a glass bottle and a lighter.

Hinton was arrested peacefully at a home in an Atlanta suburb. Hertzberg said he was not aware of any prior criminal convictions and promised to prosecute the case with “extreme severity.”

If convicted, Hinton faces up to 20 years in federal prison. Court records did not list an attorney for him.
