SEGUIN, Texas — Two pilots ejected safely from a military training plane near Seguin, Texas, on Thursday evening after the aircraft signaled a landing gear problem, Joint Base San Antonio said.
The T-6A Texan II, assigned to the 12th Flying Training Wing, was abandoned in what officials called a “controlled bailout” at about 5:51 p.m. local time. After getting indications that the landing gear was unsafe, the crew consulted experts who recommended they eject, CBS News reported.
Both pilots were checked by local medical crews. Their conditions weren’t immediately released.
The single-engine, two-seat T-6A is the primary trainer for new Air Force and Navy pilots.
