Late in the evening on July 5, 2024, tragedy struck at the intersection of 5400 East Pinnacle Peak Road in Phoenix, Arizona. Two vehicles collided, resulting in the loss of life for Juliene Aumani, a 53-year-old female.
At approximately 8:35 p.m., Phoenix Police officers responded to the scene, finding both vehicles engulfed in flames.
Six occupants were involved in the crash. Juliene Aumani succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
The collision occurred when a 19-year-old female driving a Fiat veered off the road, striking bushes and palo verde trees. The Fiat then re-entered the roadway, crossing the centerline and colliding with a Toyota Corolla driven by a 31-year-old female. Juliene was one of the four adult passengers in the Toyota.
One Toyota passenger sustained serious injuries but is expected to survive, while the remaining three are in stable condition. The Fiat driver also suffered injuries and is currently receiving medical care with an expected recovery.
Detectives are actively investigating whether impairment played a role in the collision.
