Phoenix police are conducting an investigation into a car accident in the North Valley that resulted in the death of a woman.
The incident occurred on September 17, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m. Officers were called to the scene at 35th Avenue and Grovers Avenue after reports of a collision with injuries. Upon their arrival, they discovered 48-year-old Abagail Lopez Moreno suffering from significant injuries. She was rushed to a local hospital but, unfortunately, was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Both vehicles involved remained at the scene for further investigation. Early reports suggest that Lopez Moreno was a passenger in a northbound vehicle on 35th Avenue, making a left turn onto Grovers Avenue when it was struck by another vehicle traveling south on 35th Avenue. Authorities have indicated that impairment is not believed to be a factor in the incident.
As the investigation continues, detectives are working on reconstructing the accident, and decisions regarding any potential charges will be made once this process is complete. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
