Warning: Phoenix Police Alert Public to New Text Message Scam

The Phoenix Police Department is warning residents about a new scam making the rounds. Fraudsters are sending out fake text messages that look like they’re from the City of Phoenix or the Phoenix Municipal Court.

These scam texts falsely accuse you of speeding in a school zone, supposedly caught by a “speed monitoring camera.” They then trick you into visiting a bogus website to pay a fine, instead of showing up in court.

If you get a text like this, don’t click on any links or make any payments. Just delete the message right away.

Remember, the Phoenix Municipal Court will never ask you to settle fines via text or email. If you’re unsure about a message claiming to be from the court, give them a call at 602-262-6421.

These fraudulent texts have no connection to the City of Phoenix or the Phoenix Municipal Court. Stay alert and protect yourself from these scams!
