Vogue World: Paris Mega Party Combines Fashion With Sport

On Sunday, 23rd of 2024, Vogue World, one of the biggest fashion shows of the year, will take place in Paris. It will bring together leading French designers for an exceptional collaborative display with an Olympic theme.

It’s hardly surprising that Wintour is turning to entertainment events to sustain the brand given how difficult it is for Vogue’s magazine business to remain relevant in the digital sphere. In February, Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue, revealed to AFP that the event will have “a mixture of fashion show, entertainment and performances… and a few surprises.”

International Olympic Day falls on June 23, which was specifically picked as the date. The concept is to pair several sports, including breakdancing, taekwondo, gymnastics, cycling, and gymnastics, with periods of French fashion from 1924, the last time the game was in Paris.

Two previous Vogue World events took place in 2022 and 2023, respectively, paying tribute to London’s theater scene and New York street fair. We now have a Vogue World event in 2024 that combines fashion with sport in a way that is uncommon. Midway through the menswear and haute couture presentations of Paris Fashion Week, the event takes place.

500 carefully chosen guests will be present in the opulent Place Vendome; the exact people coming are still unknown. Even so, the event’s promotional video has offered us a sneak peek.

A variety of sports are attempted by actress Isabelle Huppert, top models Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner, and other celebrities in the event’s promotional video.

A-listers are expected to fill the majority of the 500 seats. Cara Delevingne, a British model and actor, will host the event, which will be directed by Sam Wrench, who oversaw Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. The event will feature nearly all of the major French fashion brands at once, including, Jean Paul Gaultier, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Lacoste Marine Serre, Rabanne, Balenciaga, Balmain, Chanel, Courreges, Dior, Fursac, Givenchy, Hermes, Jacquemus, and Saint Laurent. These Labels rarely present fashion shows side by side.

Hip-hop superstar and creative director of Louis Vuitton, Pharrell Williams, stated during the press conference in February that “taking over the Place Vendome, I have to say, is pretty legendary.” The event, he continued, will highlight “true French style — what we see on the podium, what we see in the boulevards — in an inclusive spirit.”

Let’s have a little discussion on the venue.

The Place Vendôme, sometimes referred to as the Place Louis-le-Grand and the Place Internationale in the past, is a square situated in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, France. It is east of the Église de la Madeleine and north of the Tuileries Gardens.

The organizers chose Place Vendome, which houses the French justice ministry and is widely recognized as the epicenter of upscale jewelry in Paris, as their venue.

However, given that downtown Paris is already experiencing significant traffic due to preparations for next month’s Games, authorities were apparently less enthusiastic.

In an effort to lessen the load, Vogue World is donating one million euros to French Popular Relief, a nonprofit that addresses prejudice and poverty.
