US pop star Cyndi Lauper placed her handprints in cement outside Hollywood’s famed TXL Chinese Theater.

With her pals, Cher and Bebe Rexha by her side, the award-winning performer, Cyndi Lauper described Tuesday’s (4th of June) ceremony as a “surreal moment.” She was dressed entirely in black, with a shock of white hair accentuated by large white earrings.

The event took place only a few days after Lauper said she would be embarking on a 23-date farewell tour of North America, which will begin in Montreal on October 18 and end in Chicago on December 5.

The occasion is being held in conjunction with the premiere of a documentary on Lauper’s illustrious career and her activism on behalf of women and the LGBTQ+ community. That day was supposed to be the launch day for “Let the Canary Sing” on Paramount+.

To the pleasure of the audience, Lauper was greeted by surprise visitor Cher before dipping her hands and feet into wet concrete on Tuesday.

“She’s a wonderful, crazy, crazy person,” US music sensation Cher described Lauper as.” When Cher sang her classic song “If I Could Turn Back Time” during the 2002 Divas performance, she recalled that she was “feeling really good” about herself before Lauper came and “blows me away – and we’ve been friends ever since.”

Speaking as well, Rexha claimed that the trailblazing artist had “empowered” her both as a woman and an artist. Regarding Lauper, Rexha remarked, “She taught us we should always let our true colors shine through.”

Rexha spoke about Lauper in a video during the Mann visit, saying, “Most importantly, it was her unapologetic nature to be her true self. Not only was I drawn to her infectious melodies and her edgy style. Her own, genuine self.”

Cyndi Lauper then dipped her hand and footprints into wet cement in front of the TCL Chinese theater in Los Angeles on the 4th of June in an event honoring the life and career of the “Girls Just Want To Have Fun”  singer.

Lauper addressed a gathering outside the theater, saying, “I’m honored. “Remember when I was nine years old and used to kowtow in front of my shower curtain? Here I am, too,” she said.

She added, “I love Hollywood and glamour, so it’s really a surreal moment.”

Lauper became the first female winner of the Tony Award for Best Original Score when she took home the trophy for “Kinky Boots” in 2013. For “Kinky Boots,” a musical theater record for which she served as producer, writer, and composer, she was awarded a second Grammy in 2014. In 1995, she was awarded the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Sitcom Emmy for her portrayal of Ira Buchman’s (John Pankow) erratic girlfriend in the NBC sitcom “Mad About You.”

Hollywood history will always remember her as an artist, singer, songwriter, actor, and activist, according to 34-year-old Rexha.
