“Two Migrants Arrested in Coney Island Knifepoint Rape; One Recently Released from Jail”

Two migrants have been arrested in connection with a knifepoint rape in Coney Island. One of the suspects, recently released from jail after a previous sexual assault, was apprehended along with another migrant.

David Davon-Bonilla, a 24-year-old from Nicaragua, allegedly attacked a 46-year-old woman, throwing her to the ground and raping her while threatening her with a knife. The second suspect, Leovando Moreno, a 37-year-old from Mexico, is accused of striking the woman’s 34-year-old boyfriend with an object when he attempted to intervene.

Davon-Bonilla, who had recently stayed at a La Quinta Hotel on Third Avenue repurposed as a migrant shelter, faces charges including first-degree rape, second-degree assault, first-degree sexual abuse, menacing, and criminal possession of a weapon. Moreno has been charged with second-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

The victim was transported to Coney Island Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
