November 8, 2024 — Mike Davis, a fierce ally of President-elect Donald Trump and founder of the Article III Project, issued a stark warning Thursday to New York Attorney General Letitia James, promising no tolerance from the incoming Trump administration if she continues to target the former president with legal challenges.
Davis, a conservative legal advocate, made the comments during an appearance on The Benny Show podcast, where he was asked about James’ ongoing legal efforts against Trump. In a fiery exchange, Davis declared that the New York AG’s continued attempts to pursue legal action against Trump could result in significant consequences.
“I dare you to try to continue your lawfare against President Trump in his second term,” Davis warned James, adding, “Listen here, sweetheart, we’re not messing around this time. We will put your fat a– in prison for conspiracy against rights. I promise you that.”
Davis, who has been rumored as a potential candidate for attorney general or White House counsel in a second Trump administration, went on to urge James to reconsider her legal approach, particularly if it involves infringing upon the constitutional rights of President Trump or any other American citizens.
“I’d think long and hard before you violate his constitutional rights or any other Americans’ constitutional rights,” Davis continued. “It’s not going to happen again.”
The combative remarks come amid ongoing legal battles involving James and the Trump Organization. Earlier this year, James secured a $454 million civil fraud judgment against Trump, accusing him of inflating his net worth to secure favorable loan and insurance terms. Trump, who has consistently denied any wrongdoing, has appealed the ruling, and the case remains in legal limbo.
James, who has served as New York’s attorney general since 2019, has been a vocal critic of Trump and his business practices, often positioning herself as a staunch opponent to the former president. Following Trump’s defeat of Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, James vowed to “use the rule of law to fight back” against the incoming administration, claiming that her office had been “preparing for several months” to counteract Trump’s return to power.
In an interview with Newsmax, Davis suggested that the incoming Trump administration would have little patience for what he described as “Democrat lawfare” in the years ahead. “I can imagine that the Trump 47 Justice Department is not going to have any patience for this over the next four years,” he said, signaling a tougher stance on legal challenges coming from liberal-leaning figures like James.
Davis’ comments underscore the tense and polarized atmosphere surrounding Trump’s second term, with both legal and political battles likely to intensify as the new administration takes office. As Trump prepares to take the oath of office in January, many are bracing for what could be a protracted and combative legal and political environment between the president and his adversaries, particularly in state-level legal efforts led by figures like James.
For now, it remains unclear how the incoming administration will handle the myriad ongoing investigations and legal cases involving Trump. However, Davis’ remarks indicate that a more aggressive response from the president’s allies is likely, particularly when it comes to perceived overreach by figures like New York’s attorney general.
