Phoenix, AZ — In the early hours of June 10, 2024, tragedy struck in the west valley as a collision claimed the life of a local woman. Phoenix Police officers responded promptly to the scene at the intersection of 55th Avenue and Turney Avenue.
The victim has been identified as 50-year-old Ramona Barajas-Raya. She sustained serious injuries in the incident and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, despite medical efforts, Barajas-Raya was pronounced deceased.
Detectives have taken over the investigation, but preliminary information suggests that Barajas-Raya’s northbound vehicle veered off the roadway and collided with a lawfully parked, unoccupied vehicle. Further details about the collision are still part of the ongoing investigation .
