Three individuals have been arrested following a shooting incident at the Arizona Mills Mall food court on Friday, September 13, 2024. The Tempe Police Department received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting shots fired around 7:30 p.m. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among community members, and damage inside the mall was minimal.
Following the incident, members of the Criminal Investigations Bureau reviewed hours of video surveillance and employed various investigative techniques to identify the suspects involved.
A 16-year-old suspect faces several serious charges, including:
- Four counts of Aggravated Assault (Class 3 felony)
- Two counts of Endangerment (Class 6 felony)
- One count of Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm (Class 6 felony)
- One count of Disorderly Conduct (Class 6 felony)
- One count of Minor in Possession of a Firearm (Class 6 felony)
Nineteen-year-old Gabriel Victor Garcia has been charged with:
- Four counts of Aggravated Assault (Class 3 felony)
- One count of Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm (Class 6 felony)
- Two counts of Endangerment (Class 6 felony)
- One count of Disorderly Conduct (Class 6 felony)
Twenty-two-year-old Marvin Hooks is charged with:
- One count of Conspiracy (Class 3 felony)
