SWAT Team Responds to Barricaded Suspect Near Show Low, Arizona

On Sunday, June 9, 2024, at approximately 8:50 pm,  According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS), The Special Operations District SWAT Team responded to a critical situation near Show Low, Arizona.

The incident unfolded when the White Mountain Regional SWAT Team and the Apache County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance with a barricaded suspect who was firing at deputies in the vicinity of highway US-60 and Apache County Road 3095.

Negotiations with the suspect persisted for several hours, but tensions escalated. At around 2:40 am on Monday morning, the suspect opened fire on the DPS SWAT team, prompting a trooper-involved shooting. Fortunately, no law enforcement officers were injured during the intense exchange of gunfire.

The suspect was subsequently taken into custody and transported to a Phoenix-area hospital for medical treatment. The AZDPS Major Incident Division is currently handling the investigation.
