Phoenix Police Investigate Fatal Collision in North Valley

Phoenix, AZ — Detectives from the Phoenix Police Department are investigating a tragic collision in the North Valley that claimed the lives of two elderly individuals. The incident occurred on September 21, 2024, around 9:25 a.m. at the intersection of 15th Avenue and Bell Road.

Officers arrived at the scene to find three adults injured in the crash. The driver of one vehicle, 85-year-old Fouad Shawo, and his passenger, 85-year-old Virgins Nathan, were both transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Unfortunately, both individuals later succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased.

The driver of the second vehicle also sustained injuries but was reported to have non-life-threatening conditions and is expected to recover.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Shawo and Nathan’s vehicle was traveling west on Bell Road and was making a left turn onto 15th Avenue when it was struck by the eastbound vehicle. Detectives have taken over the case and are conducting an accident reconstruction to determine the circumstances leading up to the collision.

Further details will be released as the investigation continues, and charging decisions will be made once the reconstruction process is complete.
