Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Phoenix DUI Collision: Investigative Update

Phoenix, AZ — On June 8, 2024, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Phoenix Police officers responded to a tragic collision involving a pedestrian near the intersection of 29th Street and Thomas Road.

The victim, identified as 46-year-old Peter Klabanos, suffered serious injuries and tragically did not survive.

According to preliminary information, Klabanos was crossing Thomas Road mid-block when he was struck by a westbound vehicle.

The driver, an adult male, exhibited signs of impairment and was subsequently processed for DUI. Authorities are awaiting toxicology results and conducting an accident reconstruction to determine the exact sequence of events.
