Paris Fashion Week: Japanese fashion brand Doublet unveiled their Spring/Summer 2025 Collection

Masayuki Ino’s Doublet collection for Spring/Summer 2025 turned the standard catwalk into an anime-themed fashion festival, bringing an exciting finale to Paris Fashion Week. Doublet, which is well-known for its fun nature, thrilled guests with a colorful, festival-like ambiance.

The presentation was held on the academic grounds of lycée polyvalent de Turgot, rather than the customary runway. The runway was hidden under wrapped banners that dotted the backlot. As part of its celebration of regional culture, Doublet also provided guests with a hot takoyaki stand, carrying on its heritage of fusing cuisine and style.

Young students wearing similar 2024 uniforms opened the event by unfurling the banners to expose the concealed runway. These banners suggested a partnership with the Tokyo-based shoe company GAITE. They were adorned with vibrant drawings of Japanese characters and animations in the shape of hearts. Doublet’s unique and playful designs were exhibited in a 39-look coed collection that was set to loud music.

The first looks from Ino were mysterious and included damaged leather jeans, embroidered cheerleader patterns on V-neck pullovers, and military wool jackets with glittering pompoms. Layers of mystery were added by varsity jackets with flowery hoods and torn cardigans with spider details, as well as football shirts that showcased partnerships with Spiber Inc.

The collection also included creative yet functional pieces like capes, triple clasped closures, and Canadian tuxedos with utilitarian gilets. Doublet-branded towels used as everyday wear and motorcycle jackets put over cycling outfits were examples of Ino’s creative and practical design combinations. With images of raw meat, the lighthearted “I Heart NY” t-shirts were hilariously reimagined as “I Heart Protein” shirts.

In the end, Doublet’s SS25 collection praised creative, happy dressing. Throughout the collection, Ino’s idea of having a “oshi”—someone to cheer for—resonated, celebrating those committed to sustainability and creativity. This colorful presentation highlighted Doublet’s dedication to originality and made a lasting impression on Paris Fashion Week by fusing lightheartedness with cutting-edge design.
