Tragedy Strikes Ohio: TV Reporter Injured in  Shooting”

Ohio woke up to shocking news today: Winnie Dortch, a beloved WOIO-TV reporter who had just celebrated securing her dream job, was found shot on a sidewalk in Lakewood. Police were alerted to the scene shortly before 8 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, by a 911 caller reporting an argument between a man and a woman. As officers rushed to the location, multiple callers reported hearing gunshots. Upon arrival, officers found a man deceased and Dortch with at least one gunshot wound. She was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. WOIO-TV expressed its heartbreak and wished Dortch a swift and full recovery, identifying the shooting as an “apparent domestic incident.” The suspected shooter, who reportedly shot himself after injuring Dortch, has not yet been publicly identified. Authorities have collected a firearm from the scene and are actively investigating the incident.
