NYPD Traffic Agent Assault: Escarlin Polanco Gonzalez Identified as Suspect

Harlem NY- An NYPD traffic enforcement agent was on duty near St. Nicholas Avenue and West 118th Street in Harlem when a shocking incident unfolded. 

Four individuals pulled up in a vehicle, and one of them discharged a fire extinguisher directly into the officer’s face. The entire assault was captured on video, which was apparently shot by the suspects themselves

On May 28, 2024  6:50 a.m at 118th Street and Saint Nicholas Avenue, Harlem The video that has gone viral on social media shows the attack from the suspects’ point of view. As the sedan pulls up next to the traffic agent, who was in uniform and seated in a marked police vehicle, one of the suspects calls out, “Yo.” Without warning, they spray the fire extinguisher into the window of the police car. The suspects then speed away, laughing as they escape northbound on Saint Nicholas Avenue.

The NYPD has identified one of the suspects as Escarlin Polanco Gonzalez, a 19-year-old individual. Mayor Eric Adams expressed outrage at the incident, emphasizing that those who wear uniforms represent stability and should not be subjected to such attacks.
