“Kamala Harris Secures Democratic Delegate Support According to Associated Press Survey”

An Associated Press survey indicates that Kamala Harris has garnered sufficient backing from Democratic delegates to emerge as the presumptive nominee to challenge Donald Trump in the upcoming election.

This delegate survey differs from AP’s official count of primary delegates won, serving as an informal tally because Democratic delegates retain the freedom to support the candidate of their preference when the party formally selects its nominee.

Following Joe Biden’s endorsement subsequent to his exit from the race, Harris swiftly consolidated support from Democratic donors, elected officials, and other influential figures within the party. Notably, no other candidate received delegate mentions in the survey, solidifying Harris’s position with more than the required 1,976 delegates necessary for securing the nomination.

AP plans to continually update this survey leading up to the commencement of the Democratic National Convention on August 19 in Chicago.
