Juan Ambriz-Rincon Sentenced to Prison for Organized Retail Theft

Juan Ambriz-Rincon, born in April 1984, has been sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison for Organized Retail Theft, according to Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell. In addition to the prison term, Rincon is required to pay $300,000 in restitution.

Rather than being gainfully employed, Juan Ambriz-Rincon stole over $1 million from retail stores his full-time occupation, reselling the stolen merchandise. County Attorney Rachel Mitchell emphasized that this significant restitution, combined with the prison sentence, sends a clear message that Maricopa County does not tolerate such crimes.

In April, Ambriz-Rincon pleaded guilty to five felony counts, including organized retail theft, trafficking in stolen property, and possession of dangerous drugs. Despite the crimes occurring in multiple states, the victim company specifically requested prosecution by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office (MCAO) due to their expertise in organized retail theft cases.

Sean Browne, senior manager of Organized Retail Crime at The Home Depot, acknowledged the crucial role played by Rachel Mitchell and her team in combating the growing trend of organized retail crime in Maricopa County.
