Jamarr Dwayne Young Indicted on Second-Degree Murder and Other Charges

(Phoenix, AZ) – Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell has announced the indictment of Jamarr Dwayne Young* (DOB: 07/90) on multiple charges, including second-degree murder. The charges stem from an incident on May 16th, when Young, allegedly intoxicated and speeding while fleeing a domestic violence situation, collided with a bicyclist, resulting in the victim’s death.

Young’s indictment includes:

– One count of Second-Degree Murder, classified as a Class One Dangerous Felony

– One count of Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Accident, categorized as a Class Two Felony

– One count of Unlawful Flight from Law Enforcement, a Class Five Felony

– Two counts of Aggravated Assault, each a Class Five Felony

– One count of Resisting Arrest, a Class Six Felony

– One count of Domestic Violence Assault, a Class One Misdemeanor

At the time of his apprehension, Young was already on felony probation subsequent to his release from the Arizona Department of Corrections. He is currently in custody, held on a cash-only bond of $500,000. Trial proceedings are scheduled to commence on October 1, 2024.
