Gucci Announces BTS’ Eldest Member Jin, As Its Global Ambassador

Kim Soek-Jin, a 31-year-old K-pop artist, will become an ambassador for Gucci, the premium fashion business said on Wednesday, August 7.

After seeing Jin at the Incheon, Korea airport wearing a whole Gucci denim ensemble, a backpack with a web-patterned key chain, and a pair of Gucci sneakers earlier in July, fans of the viral boy band known as ARMY had already begun to speculate about his new work with Gucci.

In a release, Jin stated that Gucci is a renowned brand with a rich history and contemporary appeal. “Being a part of such a house is both exciting and significant.”

Jin will represent Gucci as a global ambassador alongside a star-studded list of ambassadors that includes NewJeans’ Hanni, Korean artist Jay Park, Squid Game Star Lee Jung Jae, Indian starlet Alia Bhatt, and more at various projects and events across the world, including Fashion Week.

In a statement, De Sarno praised Jin, saying, “His warm and kind personality is truly magnetic, and his style is simply unique.” “We are even more honored to share this journey with him because he is a generous and extraordinary artist who has the ability to move people with his music.”

This news came shortly after Jin’s 18-month military service obligation ended in June 2024. The remaining six members are still in active service at the moment.

Jin participated in a few special events following his military release, one of which gave 1,000 fans the opportunity to embrace the singer after they were chosen through a raffle. In a statement posted on their fan community Weverse, Big Hit Music, the group’s record company, stated: “This event was prepared in order to fulfill Jin’s wish to spend meaningful time with ARMY in person on BTS’ debut day.”

Jin has previously accepted positions as a fashion ambassador. Before Jin was enlisted, he and the other members of BTS worked as global brand ambassadors for Louis Vuitton, their first-ever collaboration in high-end fashion. Jin made his most recent appearance at the Paris Olympics as a torchbearer for South Korea. He was also chosen the ambassador of the French jewelry company FRED last month.

Gucci has been strengthening its ties to South Korea and is getting ready to introduce Gucci Cultural Month, its newest cultural project, in Seoul on October 15. By showcasing the contributions of those who have used a variety of media to take local arts to a worldwide audience, this initiative seeks to promote Korean cultural history.
