Gila River Indian Community Shocked by Loss of Officer Briese in Shooting Incident

Officer Joshua Briese, a dedicated member of the Gila River Police Department, lost his life during a shooting incident in the Gila River Indian Community. The community is left in shock and mourning as they grapple with the loss of a young officer who had been serving for less than a year.

The shooting occurred around 2 a.m. in the Santan area of the Gila River Indian Community. Officers responded to a disturbance call involving a large crowd at a residence. As they arrived, multiple gunshots were fired, resulting in injuries to several individuals.

Officer Briese was still in field training when he responded to the disturbance call. Tragically, he lost his life during the incident. His dedication to protecting the community will be remembered by his colleagues and the community members he served.

A second officer was injured during the shooting. After undergoing surgery, they remain in serious but stable condition.At least one community member also died as a result of the shooting.Three additional civilians sustained gunshot wounds and are currently recuperating in the hospital.

As of Saturday evening, authorities have not released any suspect information.The Gila River police, in collaboration with the FBI, are actively investigating the incident.No arrests have been made yet, and the community awaits further updates from law enforcement.
