TEMPE, ARIZ. – August 27, 2024
A tragic fire at a mobile home in Chaparral Village on the night of August 25, 2024, has resulted in the deaths of four family members, according to Tempe Fire & Medical Rescue and the Tempe Police Department.
The victims include Monica Ruiz, 51, and her 3-year-old granddaughter, Ariaelly Ruiz. Two others, Ellany Ruiz, 18 months old, and Enrique “Junior” Ruiz, 24, were also transported to the hospital but later died from their injuries. Valerie Magana-Gonzalez, 22, remains in critical condition. Enrique and Valerie were the parents of Ariaelly and Ellany.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation as authorities work to understand how the blaze started and to prevent similar incidents in the future.
