More than six months after a man was fatally shot while driving on the Loop 202 in Mesa, his grieving family continues to search for answers. Silent Witness hosted a news conference on Wednesday at 1 p.m., during which the family of the victim, 50-year-old Keith Henion, pleaded for someone to come forward.
The incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. on Sunday, January 28. A DPS trooper discovered what appeared to be a broken-down pickup truck on the left shoulder of eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) near Alma School Road. Upon closer inspection, it was revealed that the truck had crashed into the median barrier wall, and Henion was found dead in the driver’s seat from a gunshot wound.
Investigators believe that Henion was shot while driving eastbound on the 202 between Dobson and Alma School roads. Despite the passage of six months, detectives remain uncertain about the circumstances leading up to the shooting and the identity of the perpetrator.
