Detectives are currently investigating a shooting that took place after a First Amendment demonstration in downtown Phoenix.
On Thursday around 8:45 p.m., officers working near Central Avenue and Minnezona Avenue heard gunshots and rushed to the scene.
They found two victims: one with a gunshot wound and another with a stab wound.
Tragically, the 51-year-old man wounded by gunfire, identified as Paul Franco, died at the scene.
The fire department provided aid to both men, and a woman believed to be involved in the shooting was later located and questioned. She was subsequently released pending further investigation.
Investigators are still working to identify a suspect in the stabbing. The Maricopa County Attorney’s office will review the incident once the investigation is complete.
