PHOENIX — Democrats led in two Republican-held Arizona U.S. House seats early Wednesday, while Republicans Mark Lamb and Abe Hamadeh clung to narrow leads in two others, according to unofficial results compiled by KTAR News.

In the northeast Valley’s 1st Congressional District, Democrat Amish Shah led former Arizona Cardinals kicker Jay Feely, a Republican, 52.5% to 45.5%. The open seat came up when Republican Rep. David Schweikert ran for governor.

In the Tucson-area 6th District, Democrat JoAnna Mendoza led Republican Rep. Juan Ciscomani 52.9% to 44.9%, KTAR reported. Arizona Luminaria reported the race could take days to decide.

The 2nd District was a near tie, with Democrat Jonathan Nez at 49.13% and Republican Rep. Eli Crane at 49.1%. Nez, a former Navajo Nation president, is trying to become the first Native American to represent Arizona in Congress.

In the East Valley’s 5th District, Lamb, a former Pinal County sheriff, moved ahead of Democrat Elizabeth Lee, 51% to 48.8% as of 5 a.m. Lee had led by about 4 points in the first results, KTAR reported. The seat opened when Rep. Andy Biggs ran for governor.

In the 8th District, Hamadeh led Democrat Bernadette Greene-Placentia 51% to 48.8%.

The AP called four races. Democratic Reps. Yassamin Ansari, Greg Stanton and Adelita Grijalva won reelection in the 3rd, 4th and 7th districts, and Republican Rep. Paul Gosar won the 9th District, according to KTAR.
