BISBEE — An Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper has been arrested on accusations of sexual misconduct with a woman who was stranded after a hit-and-run crash in Cochise County, the sheriff’s office said, according to KTAR News.

The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office identified the trooper as 35-year-old Aiden Rosebeck. He was booked into the Cochise County jail on a charge of unlawful sexual conduct involving a police officer, a class 5 felony.

According to the sheriff’s office, the woman was involved in a hit-and-run crash on a Cochise County road Sunday evening and called for help. Investigators said the alleged misconduct happened after a trooper responded to that call.

Deputies later got a request for a welfare check on a woman stranded in her vehicle who looked distraught. When they contacted her, she reported inappropriate sexual conduct by the DPS trooper who had responded, the sheriff’s office said.

Investigators said Rosebeck acknowledged a physical interaction with the woman when they contacted him. Deputies arrested him Monday after gathering more evidence.

“Let me be absolutely clear, a badge is not a shield from accountability,” Sheriff Mark Dannels said in a statement. “There will be no double standard. There will be no special treatment.”

The allegations have not been proven in court, and Rosebeck is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
