TEMPE — Administrators at Corona del Sol High School were warned about a security camera in a classroom used as a temporary changing area long before a school security guard was arrested on voyeurism charges, according to emails obtained by AZFamily.
An assistant principal told staff on Sept. 24, 2024, that newly installed cameras were recording around the clock and that students would need another place to change. The same day, a dance teacher asked why the camera wasn’t placed outside, noting her whole classroom was visible and students regularly changed into gear and costumes there. She asked that it be removed or moved.
In July 2026, with the girls’ locker room under renovation, the teacher raised the concern again and asked that the camera be turned off until the locker room was fixed.
A month later, former security guard Antony Cruz, 28, was arrested. Police say he downloaded videos of girls changing, and he faces more than 100 counts of voyeurism. A parent recently shared a photo showing the camera covered with a cardboard box.
