AVONDALE — Several fans at Phoenix Raceway were caught in a spray when a wastewater pipe from a suite burst just before 6 p.m. Oct. 17, the night before the NASCAR Cup Series race, FOX 10 reported.
The raceway said it responded immediately, repaired the pipe and sanitized the area with input from Maricopa County Environmental Services.
“The burst pipe was repaired, and the affected patrons were promptly transported to a medical facility,” a Maricopa County spokesperson said Oct. 20. The county said the area was cordoned off and its cleaning was verified Sunday morning.
The raceway said it was ready for fans for the Oct. 18 Cup race.
