MIAMI — The Miami Heat are turning Kaseya Center into “Vice City” for one night, announcing a Nov. 18 home game against the Milwaukee Bucks themed around Grand Theft Auto VI just hours before the game’s long-awaited release window.
In a promotion detailed Thursday and amplified in ESPN and team releases Friday, the Heat said they are partnering with Rockstar Games for “A Night in Vice City.” Plans include a never-before-seen Vice-themed court, a reimagined alternate uniform set, and additional game-night activations still to be announced. The matchup will air nationally on ESPN.
GTA VI is scheduled for Nov. 19, making the Bucks game a lead-in spectacle for one of the industry’s biggest entertainment launches. The Heat have flirted with Vice City branding for years; this crossover is the franchise’s most ambitious tie-in yet, complete with “Welcome to Vice City” rooftop signage already lit on the arena.
Team officials said further details will roll out in coming weeks in coordination with Rockstar. For NBA marketers and gaming fans alike, the night is a test of how far sports franchises can lean into blockbuster game culture without diluting the on-court product — and whether Miami’s pink-and-blue aesthetic can sell a night that feels as much like a launch party as a basketball game.
Tip time and ticket packages were being promoted through the Heat’s usual channels as of Friday; Arizona fans watching nationally will catch the ESPN feed regardless of local blackout rules.
