Marana Police Detain Suspect After Possible Road-Rage Shooting Near I-10

MARANA, Ariz. — Marana police detained a suspect Thursday afternoon after a possible road-rage shooting left one person with serious injuries near Ina Road and the Interstate 10 frontage road, authorities said.

Officers responded about 3:28 p.m. to reports of possible gunshots and a road-rage incident. When they arrived, they took a suspect into custody and arranged transport for an injured person to a hospital. Police said there was no ongoing threat to the public.

The westbound I-10 off-ramp at Ina Road was closed while investigators worked the scene. Marana Police described the case as an active investigation and asked anyone with information to contact the department.

Road-rage shootings remain relatively rare but highly disruptive when they spill onto freeways that carry Tucson-area and statewide traffic. Temporary ramp closures can back up I-10 through the northwest corridor and force drivers onto frontage roads already thick with retail and residential traffic.

Police have not publicly released the names of those involved, a charging decision, or whether the dispute began on the freeway, the frontage road, or nearby surface streets. Updates typically follow once detectives complete interviews and evidence collection at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has video from dashcams or nearby businesses is urged to call Marana Police. Officials stressed that the public threat was contained once the suspect was detained.
