Phoenix, AZ – On August 20, 2024 , A violent altercation involving knives has resulted in one man’s death and another fighting for his life in a local hospital.
The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. yesterday near 16th Street and Indian School Road. Phoenix police responded to reports of a stabbing and arrived to find a man with severe injuries. Despite emergency medical efforts, the victim was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. He has been identified as 34-year-old Efren Partida.
At the scene, officers detained two individuals believed to be involved in the altercation. As homicide detectives began their investigation, another man walked into a nearby hospital with stab wounds. He is currently listed in critical but stable condition and has been connected to the earlier scene.
Preliminary reports indicate that the violence erupted from a verbal argument between the two men near a convenience store. Both individuals drew knives during the confrontation, leading to their injuries.
Detectives plan to interview the surviving victim once his condition improves. The investigation remains active, and further details will be released as they become available.
