Search Efforts Continue as Five Bodies Found in Sunken Bayesian Superyacht

The search for the final missing passenger continues as five bodies have been recovered from the sunken Bayesian superyacht, which went down during a severe storm early Monday morning. Among the missing are British billionaire Mike Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter, Hannah Lynch; Morgan Stanley International chairman Jonathan Bloomer and his wife, Judy Bloomer; and Clifford Chance lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife, Neda Morvillo.

Earlier on Wednesday, four bodies were retrieved from the wreckage, one of which was described as belonging to a “heavily-built man.” Salvatore Cocina, head of Sicily’s civil protection agency, confirmed that efforts to recover a fifth body are ongoing, while the whereabouts of the sixth missing individual remain unknown. Authorities have yet to confirm the identities of the recovered bodies, despite some media reports suggesting that identifications have been made.

The search operation has proven challenging. Fire crews and divers face a complex situation, with underwater shifts limited to 12 minutes and significant debris obstructing access to the cabins. The boat’s chef, Recaldo Thomas, was confirmed dead on Monday, while 15 people survived the disaster.
