Phoenix, AZ — Phoenix Police detectives are working alongside the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause and manner of death for a 30-year-old woman who tragically lost her life early this morning in south Phoenix.
At approximately 12:22 a.m. on July 24, 2024, officers responded to a call about a serious collision near 19th Avenue and Baseline Road. Upon arriving at the scene, they found Emma Damian inside her vehicle with severe injuries. Despite the efforts of Phoenix fire personnel, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigations reveal a troubling series of events leading up to the collision. Witnesses reported that a second vehicle was seen following Damian’s car northbound on 19th Avenue, with occupants firing shots at her. Damian’s vehicle then accelerated and veered off the road, crashing into a cement irrigation container.
Detectives have taken over the investigation and are working to piece together the full details of what transpired. The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an examination to determine the exact cause and manner of Damian’s death.
