For eighteen months, Paul Slobodzian and his fiancée Aly Perkins had been working two jobs in an attempt to save money for their wedding. They were near the final stretch when a miracle knocked on their door.
Slobodzian, who was an UberEats delivery man, decided to start leaving a note with his UberEats deliveries, thanking clients for their tips and offering his Venmo in case they wanted to make a donation to the wedding.
Fortunately, Slobodzian made a food delivery to Erica Hernandez, who was unaware that her delivery from Chipotle would come with a sentimental message.
The note reads; “Thank you for your order. I am driving on the side to give my fiancé the wedding she deserves. Any additional tip through the app or Venmo is greatly appreciated”
The message moved her so much that she posted it on TikTok. “I just felt really inspired to post it and see if my friends would be willing to donate or any followers that I had on there to donate,” she stated.
Within two hours, the TikTok became viral, reaching millions of people and drawing Slobodzian’s notice.
“I never set out to leave those notes with the intention of somebody making a video about it or even trying to broadcast it to anybody besides the person I was delivering to,” Slobodzian explained.
Slobodzian and his fiancé managed to raise enough money in less than a week for their ideal September wedding.
His fiancé Aly Perkins stated, “Your phone just started blowing up.”
“Yes, in all honesty and sincerity, it hasn’t stopped since Friday afternoon,” Slobodzian stated. “It’s been thousands of messages of people supporting us.”
“We didn’t really expect anything to come of this and the fact that a stranger got our note and felt so compelled to post it on the internet and advocate for two strangers is unbelievable,” Perkins commented.
After acquiring sufficient funds, they intend to allocate more time to each other before their wedding.
“It’s just a very special bond that I actually didn’t even know if I’d find with a person and to know that I found it with Ay is the best,” Slobodzian commented.
The couple even went so far as to give Hernandez $1,000 as a token of gratitude. To add cherry on the cake, they also invited her to their wedding and of course she said yes.
