Phoenix, June 30, 2024 — Arson detectives from the Phoenix Police and Fire Departments are actively investigating a truck fire that occurred near 9100 North 7th Street late Saturday morning.
On June 29, 2024, around 10:00 a.m., emergency responders rushed to the scene after reports of a vehicle collision involving a truck engulfed in flames. The Phoenix Fire Department promptly extinguished the fire and transported 82-year-old Marchell Larson to the hospital with severe, life-threatening injuries. Tragically, Larson succumbed to his injuries during hospitalization.
According to initial findings, Larson was driving north on 7th Street when the truck’s bed caught fire. As he approached Dunlap Avenue, the blazing truck collided with a wall. Fortunately, a witness managed to pull Larson from the vehicle before first responders arrived.
