Halsey said she’s lucky to be alive in the Instagram post featuring The End, the first track off her next album

The Grammy nominee’s most recent song, which follows the popularity of 2021’s “If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power,” tells the story of a relationship that is plagued by worries about death and a terrifying health fight.

“I’ve kind of been sick most of my adult life,” Halsey said in the past, being up about her health issues. She disclosed her endometriosis diagnosis in 2016. She disclosed in 2022 that when she became pregnant in 2021 with her son Ender, her health deteriorated. According to BBC News, she claims to have had treatment for illnesses such as mast cell activation syndrome, Sjogren’s disease, and Ehlers-Danlos syndromes.

In June 2024, Halsey disclosed on Instagram that she was diagnosed in 2022 with both systemic lupus erythematosus, or SLE, and “a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder.”

Leukaemia and lymphoma are distinct malignancies affecting the blood and lymphatic systems, respectively. An autoimmune condition known as lupus causes the body’s immune system to target healthy tissue. It may impact many organs, joints, skin, and circulation. The National Institutes of Health states that there are several ways in which T-cell lymphoproliferative diseases can manifest, including distinct types of leukaemia and lymphoma.

“Both of which I will probably have for the rest of my life and both of which are currently being managed or in remission.” “With the assistance of wonderful doctors, I gradually brought things under control after a rough beginning. I’m feeling better now that I’ve had two years, and I’m thankful to have music in my life. I can’t wait to be among you all again, where I truly belong,” Halsey said in the caption of her Instagram photo on the 4th of June.

“Long story short, I’m Lucky to be alive. I wrote an album. The End is where it all starts, “Out now,” Halsey added in her caption. The first slide shows Halsey rubbing their calves while wearing medical tape over one arm and appearing to be in discomfort, as reported by CBN News

Halsey released a video of herself receiving medical attention in the hospital as well as images of herself performing her new song, “The End,” in a studio. “Every couple of years now, a doctor says I’m sick / Pulls out a brand new bag of tricks / And then they lay it on me / And at first, it was my brain, then a skeleton in pain,” Halsey sings at the opening of the acoustic guitar ballad, which was published on June 4.

When Halsey sings, “When I met you, I said I would never die / But the joke was always mine, ’cause I’m racing against time,” later in the song, she alludes to her alleged near-death experience.

A press release announcing the release of her new album “The End” also said that Halsey will be donating to the Lupus Research Alliance and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in connection with the record’s release. In the Instagram post’s description, Halsey mentioned both charities.

The 29-year-old pop artist, who goes by she/they, refused to let her illness control her life. On Monday, June 24, she walked the red carpet for the Hollywood premiere of her new movie MaXXXine at the TCL Chinese Theatre.

On the red carpet, Halsey embraced her inner Tabby by donning a shimmering gold skirt combo that featured a crop top with cutouts at the waist and a sleeveless design. She also had a seductive cat eye and long, wavy hair.
