On July 29, 1994, tragedy struck in Scottsdale, Arizona. Angela Maher, a 21-year-old college student visiting her mother for her birthday, lost her life in a fatal traffic collision. Angela was on her way to pick up a friend from a local nightclub when the accident occurred. Ironically, Angela had founded a chapter of Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD) during her high school years.
The investigation led to Gloria Schulze, a 31-year-old Scottsdale resident. Gloria had been drinking and smoking marijuana on the night of the collision. Charged with manslaughter and endangerment, she fled Arizona before her trial. In 2001, Gloria was tried in absentia and convicted on all counts.

The case remained unsolved until Senior Analyst Cohen took over in 2020. He followed a trail that led to an unexpected twist: Gloria had allegedly passed away from cancer in Yellowknife, Canada. Using open-source searches, Cohen discovered an article about Kate Dooley, who bore a striking resemblance to an age-progressed photo of Gloria. Kate had died from cancer on December 1, 2019.
Cohen’s persistence paid off. He confirmed Gloria’s identity by matching fingerprints with Kate Dooley’s arrest record. On April 17, 2024, the 30-year-old case was officially closed, revealing the truth behind Angela Maher’s tragic death.
