Popular rapper and songwriter Kendrick Lamar has unleashed a scathing distraction targeting fellow rapper Drake in an ongoing feud that has seen the two music icons take on each other in a series of blistering diss tracks that has kept the industry talking.

Title “Meet The Grahams,” Lamar released the diss track barely minutes after Drake released his own diss track “Family Matters” on Friday, May 3, 2024, responding to Lamar’s “Euphoria” diss, HOT 97 news reported on Friday night.

Lamar’s “Meet The Grahams” is the third diss track this week and arguably the most potent, extending beyond Drake’s personal life to family. From the cover art to the lyrics organized in four verses, Lamar’s diss track is packed with a litany of accusations aimed for maximum effect.

The Controversial Cover Art

In the cover art, Kendrick showcases Drake’s vintage shirt and a Nadine Ghosn Jewelry receipt from Popular Jewelry Corp., with one of the items on the receipt with estimated amounts costing $58,000 out of the $63547.50 spent at the jewelry shop.

Additionally, the art featured Ozempic & Zolpidem tartrate prescription pills— usually used for short-term treatment of insomnia, and a pair of Maybach gloves.

The content of the cover art appears to have been carefully assembled following in-depth research about Drake to convey a bold message that has elicited mixed reactions across the music community.

As the mystery surrounding how Kendrick got his hands on Drake’s personal items remains unsolved, an Instagram user alleged that the pricey receipt was for the ring Drake used in the video to portray Kendrick’s wife’s ring.

Another person also shared on X that “Kendrick Lamar somehow got a suitcase from Drake’s dad, Dennis Graham, where he got all the stuff in the photo for the cover art to “Meet the Grahams.” However, we cannot independently verify the accuracy of the information.

The items used by Kendrick in the art are very personal, and given that “Meet The Grahams” was released about an hour after Drake’s “Family Mattersdiss, some people are convinced Kendrick has infiltrated Drake’s camp to get all the items used on the art.

A Blistering Diss Track

In the “Meet The Grahams” track lasting only 6 minutes and 32 seconds, Kendrick blasted Drake with personal attacks and accusations, including being a “deadbeat” father to his son and hiding a daughter from the public.

Divided into four verses, the track launches with advice to Drake’s son, Adonis. In the first verse, he claims Drake is “not responsive” and wished he had never been born.

“I look at him and wish your grandpa woulda wore a cond*m,

I’m sorry that you gotta grow up and then stand behind him,

Life is hard, I know, the challenge is always gon’ beat us home,” he said.

Kendrick also added that sometimes parents make mistakes that affect their children until they’re grown”.

Drake also offered to be Adonis’s mentor, claiming that the rapper had failed to teach him critical things. “Let me be your mentor, since your daddy don’t teach you sh*t.” In the segment, Kendrick goes ahead and accuses Drake of many wrongdoings indirectly, including engaging in escort business, mistreating women, and hiding children.

Following these claims, Drake responded sarcastically in a post he shared on his X account by asking if someone could find his hidden daughter and send her to him, adding that Kendrick’s camp was in shambles.

Directing the second verse of his diss to Drake’s parents, Kendrick did not hold back. He blamed Drake’s mom for his son’s problems and for raising “a horrible person.”

“I’m blamin’ you for all his gamblin’ addictions Psychopath intuition, the man that likes to play the victim,” he said in the diss track.

Further, he accused Drake of various things, including keeping pedophiles at his ho-VO home, and hypersexualizing black women.

Adding Fuel to the Fire

The stunning twist of events in the hip-hop world has puzzled many, as two diss tracks were released just a few minutes apart, with Kendrick’s track being a well-crafted release that showed his response was ready even before Drake could post a response diss track.

Kendrick’s “Meet The Grahams” diss track has sent shockwaves through the music world with the rapper’s fans as well as critics analyzing each line to understand the hidden meaning in the six-minute track while also figuring out potential responses.

Kendrick’s well-planned, direct, and unapologetic approach to fellow rapper Drake has reignited the historic feud between the two famous hip-hop celebrities, setting the social media platforms ablaze and attracting many commentaries and speculations.

As the American hip-hop community braces for Drake’s response to “Meet The Grahams,” the diss track showcases Kendrick’s lyrical prowess and willingness to confront his celebrity peer head-on. Last Friday’s class will remain to be remembered as a pivotal moment in the ongoing feud between the two biggest names in the hip-hop world.
