In the early hours of Monday morning, tragedy struck in downtown Phoenix as a man fell victim to a fatal shooting.
The incident prompted authorities to shut down the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 at the Deck Park Tunnel, spanning from 7th Street to 7th Avenue, to conduct a thorough investigation.
Phoenix police said DPS troopers responded to the crash where the victim, having sustained at least one gunshot wound, was rushed to the hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries.
As law enforcement continues their investigation into this tragic event, motorists traveling westbound on I-10 are being redirected off the freeway at 7th Avenue. Meanwhile, traffic congestion builds in the eastbound lanes, largely due to drivers’ curiosity about the unfolding situation.
The reopening time for the westbound lanes remains uncertain, adding to the inconvenience and uncertainty for commuters.
